In depth

Each of these has its own page, with what the care actually involves day to day and where my scope ends:

Dementia & Alzheimer's Care

Memory loss is easier to live with in a familiar room, with a familiar face, on a familiar schedule. Most of my eleven years has been spent with people living with Alzheimer's and other dementias, and with the families trying to hold everything together around them.

End-of-Life Care

When someone is dying at home, the family should get to be the family — holding a hand, telling the stories, sitting quietly — rather than spending the last weeks managing logistics. That is the part I take on.

Long-Term Care

Most of the people I care for are not at the end of anything. They are managing a long, slow set of changes, and they would very much like to do that in their own house.

Respite Care

Most family caregivers I meet have not had a genuinely free afternoon in months. Respite is not a luxury and it is not a failure. It is the maintenance that lets you keep doing this.

Personal Care

The hands-on work is what a CNA is trained for, and it is the part families most often find hardest to do for a parent — not because they do not love them, but because of what it costs both people.

Overnight & Vigil Care

Nights are when it gets hard. Confusion is worse after dark, falls happen on the way to the bathroom, and the family member listening for every sound has not slept properly in weeks.

What I don't do — and why that protects you

As a CNA providing private-duty care, I can organize and prepare medications and assist with self-administration under your hospice team's direction — but I do not administer medications or injections, change sterile dressings, make medical assessments or diagnoses, or provide any skilled nursing service. Those belong to your hospice agency's licensed nurses, and I coordinate closely with them. Clear boundaries are a sign of a trustworthy caregiver — anyone offering to do it all for you is a red flag.
